Biako — Feelings Happen

Biako is a Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter — co-writer/producer on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, guitarist on Tyler, The Creator's Chromakopia. Tell Your Friends partnered with him on his debut album 'Feelings Happen,' a 14-track project spanning four years. We built complete infrastructure: brand identity, creative direction, custom website with eCommerce functionality designed for first-party data collection, Meta paid media, and social strategy.

Overview

Biako is a Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter — co-writer/producer on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, guitarist on Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia. When he began work on his debut album Feelings Happen, a 14-track project spanning four years of composition and collaboration, he needed more than a record deal. He needed infrastructure.

Tell Your Friends partnered with Biako to build the complete campaign system: brand identity, a custom eCommerce website designed for first-party data collection, Meta paid media, and social strategy — all connected as a single operating system for the album’s release cycle.

Challenge

A debut album from a Grammy-nominated producer presents an unusual commercial problem: the artist has industry credibility and a proven track record, but no direct relationship with the listening audience. The album needed to establish Biako as an artist in his own right — not just the producer and writer behind his credits.

The campaign also had to work across a 14-track release spanning multiple singles and years. Each single was a campaign moment, but they all had to feel like chapters of the same story. The infrastructure needed to be flexible enough to adapt across years while maintaining coherent brand identity.

Approach

Brand identity: We developed a visual language that reflected the album’s emotional range — from introspective to ecstatic. The identity system flexed across singles, social assets, and the website, creating recognition without repetition.

Website and eCommerce: We built a custom Shopify-powered website that served as the campaign hub — streaming redirects, merchandise sales, and first-party data capture on every visit. The site was designed around the principle that every fan interaction should build an owned audience relationship, not rent one from a platform.

Paid media: Meta campaigns supported each single release with video creative tailored to platform formats. The targeting strategy layered Biako’s existing audience signals — adjacent genre fans, playlist followers — with lookalike models to find new listeners.

Social strategy: Content was planned across the full release cycle, with each single receiving teaser, launch, and sustained-engagement phases. The goal was to build momentum that compounded with each release rather than resetting between them.

Results & Impact

The campaign established Biako’s digital infrastructure from scratch — brand identity, website, eCommerce, paid media system, and social presence — all connected as one system. The custom website captured first-party audience data that Biako owns outright, independent of platform changes.

The infrastructure built for Feelings Happen remains in place for future releases. Biako now has an owned digital system that compounds with every campaign, rather than starting from zero each time.
