All analytics and advertising data collection requires your consent. If you decline cookies via our consent banner, these tools will not set cookies or collect personal data.
How we use your data and our lawful basis
UK GDPR requires us to have a lawful basis for each way we process your data:
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to contact form enquiries | Legitimate interest (replying to your message) |
| Sending the Dispatch newsletter | Consent (you subscribe and can unsubscribe at any time) |
| Website analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Consent (via cookie banner) |
| Advertising measurement (Google Ads, Meta Pixel) | Consent (via cookie banner) |
| Website hosting and delivery | Legitimate interest (running the website) |
Cookies and consent
We use Google Consent Mode v2 to manage cookie preferences. When you first visit, all tracking cookies are blocked by default. You can choose to accept or decline via the consent banner at the bottom of the page.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Distinguish unique visitors | 2 years |
_gcl_au | Google Ads | Store conversion data | 90 days |
_fbp | Meta | Store and track visits across websites | 90 days |
If you decline, Google may still collect anonymised, cookieless pings for basic measurement (without personal data). Meta tracking will not activate.
You can change your cookie preference at any time using the "Manage Cookies" link in the site footer. This will re-open the consent banner so you can update your choice.
Third-party services
We share data with the following services, each acting as a data processor unless otherwise noted:
- Google Analytics 4 — website analytics (Google Privacy Policy)
- Google Ads — advertising measurement (Google Privacy Policy)
- Meta / Facebook — advertising measurement. When we use the Meta Pixel, we and Meta act as joint data controllers for the collection and transmission of your data. You can manage your Meta ad preferences and exercise your rights directly via your Facebook privacy settings. See also Meta's Controller Addendum.
- Resend — email delivery (Resend Privacy Policy)
- Cloudinary — image hosting (Cloudinary Privacy Policy)
- Vercel — website hosting (Vercel Privacy Policy)
We do not sell your data to anyone.
International data transfers
Some of the third-party services listed above (including Google, Meta, Resend, Cloudinary, and Vercel) are based in the United States. This means your personal data may be transferred to and processed outside the UK.
Where data is transferred to the US, we rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, or on Standard Contractual Clauses (International Data Transfer Agreements) approved by the ICO. These safeguards ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection to UK GDPR.
Data retention
- Contact form submissions: retained for as long as needed to respond and follow up, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data: retained for 14 months (Google Analytics default), then automatically deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data.
- Restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Object — object to our processing of your data.
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent (cookies, newsletter), you can withdraw it at any time. Use the "Manage Cookies" link in the footer to change your cookie preference, or the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tellyourfriends.world. We will respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
