Morgana
Website and integrated eCommerce platform for Morgana, designed to turn merchandise sales into first-party audience data. The site replaces rented platform relationships with direct fan connections — enabling strategic planning for tours, exclusive releases, and campaigns.
Overview
Morgana is an independent artist building a career on her own terms — writing, recording, and releasing from Dublin while her management team runs the business side. When she approached Tell Your Friends, she needed a digital infrastructure that could grow with her — not just a website, but a system that turned every merchandise sale, every tour ticket, and every fan interaction into a direct, owned relationship.
The music industry’s platform model means most artists rent their audience from streaming services and social networks. Morgana wanted something different: a digital home where every transaction built durable value.
Challenge
Independent artists face a structural disadvantage: they build audiences on platforms they don’t control, and every time a platform changes its algorithm, pricing, or policies, that audience becomes harder to reach. Morgana needed a digital presence that could serve as the central hub for her career — a place where fans could discover her music, buy merchandise, sign up for tour updates, and join a community she owned.
The challenge was building something sophisticated enough to handle eCommerce, CRM, and content, but simple enough for an independent artist to manage alongside recording, touring, and creative work. No complex technical overhead, no ongoing developer dependency.
Approach
eCommerce as data infrastructure: We built a Shopify-powered storefront that did more than sell merchandise. Every transaction became a data point — capturing email addresses, preferences, location, and purchase history. Instead of renting audience relationships from platforms, Morgana now owns a growing database of verified fans who have already demonstrated willingness to spend. The store connects directly to her fulfilment partner for vinyl and merchandise, so every product page is a working sales channel rather than a placeholder.
Integrated CRM: The site connects eCommerce data with mailing list signups and tour date RSVPs, building a single view of the fan relationship. When Morgana plans a tour, she can see which cities her buyers are in. When she launches a new product, she can reach the people most likely to buy.
Design approach: The visual language matches Morgana’s artistic identity — editorial photography, bold typography, and a clean, confident layout that lets the work speak. The site feels like an artist’s studio, not a generic eCommerce template. Around the site build we also developed the album’s production design — artwork, title design, vinyl and CD packaging, and posters — so the release and the storefront share one visual world.
Results & Impact
The site launched as an artist-owned digital presence that captures first-party audience data on every transaction, and it has kept working since — the storefront still carries Tell Your Friends’ credit today. As the debut album campaign built towards release, we returned for a full refresh: a new dark-green palette, a full-screen navigation, a redesigned homepage built around the album, a new product catalogue spanning every format and bundle, tour dates live via Seated ticketing, and a mobile pass that brought everything together. The work was approved by Morgana and her management team.
The eCommerce infrastructure now enables tour promotion, exclusive drops, and campaign marketing — all without renting reach from third-party platforms. For an independent artist building a career without major label infrastructure, this system provides the commercial and strategic foundation that would otherwise require a full team. Every tour, release, and campaign starts from a base of owned audience data, not platform-dependent guesswork.
